ADVOCATING FOR LOCAL ISSUES THAT MATTER
Neighbors for a Better Lakeview provides stewardship to community members to advocate on the issues that matter to them. We empower our neighbors to make the changes we deserve through community-powered actions. Change only happens if our vibrant community is engaged!
We're committed to taking action that leads to concrete results. Following an article in the Chicago Tribune, we started organizing for lead-free water and to increase awareness about the dangerous levels of lead existing in many homes. Since then, thousands of people across the city have ordered their testing kits, including hundreds in Lakeview.
After months of collecting petitions and hosting events about public safety, a Lakeview neighbor has been appointed to the Citizen's Police Academy. This gives us a direct line to the police, allowing us to facilitate meaningful conversations around protecting everyone in Lakeview and in Chicago as a whole.

WHAT NEIGHBORS SAY
Audrey, Lakeview Neighbor
We should prioritize pedestrian and bike safety. We should improve the dedicated bike lane network and crosswalks markings. We should add a dedicated bus lane on North Lake Shore Drive so every bus ride is fast and reliable.
Mary, Lakeview Neighbor
We should subsidize individual shops', artists' and not-for-profit organizations' rents before Lakeview becomes a sea of chain stores and empty storefronts.
Brian, Lakeview Neighbor
We should work to keep property taxes low so that working families can afford to live here. We should increase the police presence and be more proactive on reducing crime. And last but not least , we should keep Addison and Clark open on game days!
